In the early stages of the project the BID is run by a Steering Group made up from a cross section of businesses, local authority and Police in the BID area.
The objective of the Steering group will be to set the geographic area, develop and publish the Business plan for the BID, and finally set the levy rate.
The Steering group will promote the project to all the businesses in the geographical area, explaining the Business Plan and answering any questions which may arise.
The BID generates an income from a levy on non-domestic rateable value on every business within the BID area. The interests of both large and small businesses are protected through a voting system that requires a majority in the numerical votes cast, and the rateable value of votes cast. Every business within the BID area pays the levy once voted on if successful. This investment is in addition to existing services provided by local and central government.
