The business community within the Town Centre area have been lobbying Eastdunbartonshire Council ( EDC ) for improvements to the area for some time, and in November 2007 the Milngavie Traders Association ( MTA ) was reformed with the backing of EDC.
MTA and EDC very quickly formed a close alliance and agreed a program of improvements for the Town Centre over a three stage period ( Short, Medium and Long term ). Work was started immediately and the results can already be seen in the form of new seats, signs etc. And of course the new sign marking the start of the West Highland Way.
As discussions progressed, and ideas were investigated, the possibility of forming a BID was suggested. Most of the parameters laid down by the BID's development department were already in place within Milngavie Town Centre, and a grant application was made and approved to develop a BID in Milngavie, now known as Experience Milngavie.
