Progress So Far...
Progress So Far...
The Experience Milngavie BID Project was launched in September 2009 in Milngavie Town Centre.
The project aims to significantly improve Access, Awareness and Appearance of Milngavie Town Centre.
Over the last year, milestones achieved include:
- Shopper Consultation: completed, gathering views of shoppers in Milngavie Town Centre and outlying villages. Results are available on-line.
- Business Consultation: completed, gathering views of business in Milngavie Town Centre. 30 businesses submitted a response to the survey which assessed current perceptions of the town centre and aspirations for the future.
- Business Plan: a draft business plan has been completed for the town centre, which sets a five-year programme of improvement projects for the town centre. These currently focus on Access, Cleanliness and Appearance, Marketing and Enhancing the Retail Mix.
- Steering Group: the process so far has been overseen by the BID Steering Group, a mix of local business representatives who have been meeting regularly and supervising the work of the project team.
Phase 2 of the project begins from January 2011 onwards, and will include:
- Detailed business consultation: businesses will soon be given the opportunity to contribute to the process once more through a detailed business consultation. This will be delivered by Circuit Break, the company responsible for delivering the recently successful BID in Clarkston Town Centre.
- Final business plan: once the business consultation has been completed, a final business plan will be prepared and published.
- Ballot: the ballot date for the project has still to be set, though at this point looks likely to be late September 2011. Each business in the town centre will be entitled to a vote - if you agree with the contents of the proposal in the business plan and want to see it delivered, then vote YES - if you disagree, vote NO.
- Gordon Brown, of Circuit Break, has been brought in to help with the BID. Gordon was the Project co-ordinator on the successful Clarkston BID (see www.iloveclarkston.com)
- A Business Forum will be held on Tuesday the 8th of March 2011 at the Fraser Centre. Starting at 6.00pm the event will allow all organisations in the BID area to ask questions on progress to date and to hear the latest news
Keep checking experiencemilngaviebid.co.uk for regular updates as the project progresses.
